About The Position

St. Ann's Home & School, in Methuen, MA, is a leader in special education and residential programming, offering private day programs, child and adolescent residential services, along with a broad range of outpatient services. The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the delivery of speech and language services to students under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, supporting communication development to help students achieve educational and functional goals. The SLPA reports to the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and Head of School and will work primarily with the SLP for service-related needs.

Requirements

  • Must complete an approved course of academic study, as well as a supervised clinical experience
  • Successfully pass the ASHA Assistants Certification Exam
  • Meet credentialing requirements

Responsibilities

  • Implement speech and language therapy activities and treatment plans as directed by a supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Provide individual and small-group intervention services to students with speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and collect data regarding progress toward IEP goals.
  • Assist in preparing therapy materials, activities, and instructional resources.
  • Support students in developing communication skills across educational settings.
  • Report student progress and concerns to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Assist with speech and language screenings as directed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student success.
  • Implement augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and strategies under SLP supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of SLPA certification and supervision guidelines.
  • Participate in required, and when related, in-services/trainings throughout the school year.
