About The Position
The Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats individuals with speech, language, voice, and fluency impairments as part of in-house rehabilitation services in skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, and independent living. The role is based at Kresge Health & Rehab Center within Chelsea Retirement Community in Chelsea, Michigan. This is a per diem position with flexible scheduling, requiring three shifts per calendar month. Regular weekend coverage is expected, along with two holidays per year. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
- Current state Speech Therapist license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.
Nice To Haves
- Two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform hearing and/or speech and language examinations.
- Evaluate hearing and/or speech and language test results.
- Evaluate barium swallow results, other test results, and patients’ overall medical backgrounds.
- Diagnose patients and formulate treatment plans.
- Educate patients and family members about communication methods for coping with impairment.
- Write reports and maintain client information.
- Coordinate paperwork, write lesson plans, schedule case management activities, and maintain records for administrative, billing, and caseload purposes.
- Develop individual and/or group activities and programs.
- Participate in planning and implementing individualized educational planning (IEP) meetings, in-service meetings, or intervention assistance team meetings.
