About The Position

The Speech Language Pathologist provides inpatient post-ICU care to chronic, critically ill patients at Regency Hospital, supporting their extended healing and recovery. The role evaluates communication skills and swallowing function and delivers goal-oriented treatment to help patients achieve their maximum communication and swallowing potential. The position is per diem, with coverage as needed and the ability to pick up shifts at both the Sylvania and Oregon locations. Compensation is $51 per hour.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• Certified BLS, or completion of BLS certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ communication skills and/or swallowing function and provide goal-oriented treatment.
• Collaborate with associates to provide quality interdisciplinary patient programming.
• Participate with staff in monitoring the quality of services provided by the Rehab Therapy Department.
• Participate in peer review for staff performance and appraisals.
• Assist in developing the SLP role in programs and services and revising departmental policies and procedures.
• Help maintain an adequate stock of supplies.
• Share professional knowledge and experience.
• Alert the Manager to educational needs.
• Take responsibility for understanding patients’ physical, mental, psychological, and social needs.
