This role is for a Speech-Language Pathologist within the Secondary Program, serving students with visual impairments and other medically complex disabilities.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences & Disorders, or equivalent.
Experience working with students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities.
Ability to complete and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Safety Care Certifications.
Massachusetts Professional Licensure in Speech & Language Pathology.
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Licensure.
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Membership.

Experience with various modalities of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Responsibilities

Assess, organize, plan, and implement speech & language therapy services for students with visual impairments and other medically complex disabilities.
Provide direct therapy to students.
Consult and provide in-service training to members of the interdisciplinary program team.
Serve as a member of the SLP evaluation team, conducting assessments for students with visual impairments.
Provide clinical evaluation services, including standardized and non-standardized assessments, and develop comprehensive written reports.
Act as a liaison between medical specialists and program staff.
Collaborate with team members to follow behavior support plans for students.
Monitor student mealtime safety in relation to dysphagia and train team members on appropriate mealtime routines.
Review student's medical, family, and educational history to assess functioning, identify abilities and areas of need, and make recommendations.
Provide field placement supervision to undergraduate and graduate students.
Work within School and Human Resources policies and procedures, adhering to program guidelines for expenditures and maintaining appropriate records.
Participate in grant and proposal writing as requested.
Attend professional conferences, seminars, and courses for professional development.
Make professional contributions, such as planning and participating in workshops, delivering presentations at conferences, and preparing articles for publication.
Request and monitor the ordering of materials, supplies, and equipment.
Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
