About The Position

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is seeking a per diem Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for Home Care. This role involves evaluating, planning, directing, and administering speech therapy programs to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients reach their maximum level of independence. The SLP will provide assessments based on physician diagnoses, develop and update care plans in collaboration with patients and families, and treat individuals of all ages with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree Speech Language Pathology
  • Ability to work at various locations and shifts per diem.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of work flow.
  • Ability to identify patient specific speech rehabilitation learning needs.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • SLP - Licensed Speech Language Pathologist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Performs evaluations of the speech language and the swallowing function to detect speech or voice disorders.
  • Evaluates cognition, expressive, and receptive language and written language, reading comprehension, speech intelligibility, oral motor structure, and voice.
  • Supports effective communication and collaboration with the physician oversight of speech pathology programs.
  • Completes supportive documentation/billing in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Assists in increasing intelligibility of speech, using alternative or augmentative devices to facilitate better communication.
  • Reviews the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and of individual speech-language pathology programs for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
  • Delivers evidence-based patient care appropriate to age/patient specific needs in a cost-effective manner.
  • Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems.
  • Assists the physician(s) with determining appropriate dietary feeding levels for patients with dysphagia or other special needs.
