Requirements

  • Master's degree from an ASHA-approved Speech-Language Pathology program, including the required clinical internship, or as required by applicable laws and regulations.
  • Meets all educational and experience requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) granted by ASHA.
  • Active certification to practice Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Minimum of one year of hands-on clinical experience.
  • Current CPR certification maintained throughout employment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a properly insured personal vehicle.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, documentation, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
  • Assess patients' home environments and identify equipment or support needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized, physician-approved plans of care with measurable therapy goals.
  • Provide dysphagia therapy and recommend appropriate diet modifications in collaboration with the care team.
  • Recommend, implement, and train patients and caregivers on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Educate patients and families on home exercise programs to support ongoing progress.
  • Monitor patient outcomes, modify treatment plans as needed, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with JCAHO standards.
  • Participate in care conferences and collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and interdisciplinary team members.
