The Pallotta School is an out-of-district placement for kids ages 5-13 requiring a therapeutic day school placement, residential-education placement, or extended evaluation. Students at the Pallotta School have emotional and behavioral regulation challenges, may have experienced trauma, and benefit from individualized and differentiated models of academic instruction. The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) works directly with students and families with SLP services outlined on the students’ Individual Education Plan (IEP), as well as assesses the needs for school-wide supports and consults with the educational teams to increase student access to classroom-based tools. The SLP will conduct Speech & Language evaluations as requested. The SLP will offer input regarding the speech and language needs of clients in other Programs of Italian Home when assigned. The SLP will work closely with the educational and treatment team, including family and caregivers or outside providers, to ensure the student/client needs are addressed and will ensure all students/clients receive the highest quality of care. The SLP is focused on helping students achieve success and reach their fullest potential and independence. Because of the overlapping nature of the learning disabilities and behavior disorders of the students, responsibilities are broad and include generic responsibilities shared by all professional staff.
