About The Position
The Speech and Debate Coach is responsible for developing a team of students who will work together to prepare for Speech and Debate Tournament competition. The coach will elevate student performance by accessing resources from the National Speech and Debate Association and recognizing student performance through the NSDA Honor Society. The season runs from late October through early April, with tournaments typically held on Saturdays.

- Available to attend at minimum one tournament each month, typically held on Saturdays

Responsibilities
- Recruit team members through advertisement of the team
- Hold weekly meetings for student preparation
- Access the resources of the National Speech and Debate Association to teach students the skills
- Work with other Speech and Debate coaches from Pittsburgh area high schools to run the tournaments
- Register students for tournaments
- Enlist the parents to serve as volunteer judges at tournaments (clearances required)
- Attend one tournament a month, at minimum
- Arrange transportation for tournaments that are being attended as a team
- Communicate logistics of tournaments with parents and students
- Keep accurate records of student performance for NSDA Honor Society
