About The Position

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI), a division of FullBloom, provides education services for K–12 students who need additional support to succeed in traditional school settings. SESI partners with school districts to operate in-district classrooms and standalone schools serving students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. The Special Education Teacher helps students identify and address learning, social, and emotional skill gaps by delivering personalized instruction and guidance in collaboration with school teams and families. The role uses SESI’s evidence-based instructional models and positive behavioral interventions and supports framework, CASE, in smaller classes and specialized learning environments. The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The posted salary range is USD $49,000–$65,000 per year.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Valid teaching credential appropriate to the role.
Commitment to learning and implementing feedback.
Adaptability and flexibility.
Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often handling up to 50 pounds or more.
Skill in fine motor tasks, such as assisting students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
Capacity to notice and respond to students’ non-verbal cues.
Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotionally demanding situations to ensure student safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

Work with students from varied developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Use SESI instructional models, strategies, and curricula to teach knowledge and skills, nurture confidence and character, and meet students’ needs.
Develop and maintain individualized, skill-appropriate lesson plans.
Implement behavior management and intervention strategies, including de-escalation, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
Maintain student documents, including IEPs, BIPs, incident reports, and high-risk evaluation forms.
Track and document student growth and progress toward academic, social, and emotional goals.
Supervise and monitor students, including while they travel to and from locations within the school.
