About The Position

The Academic Instructor teaches in a regular classroom setting in a designated subject area. The role promotes a positive classroom atmosphere that supports student motivation, maintains discipline to maximize learning, and builds strong rapport between students and the instructor. The instructor uses available curriculum resources and maintains student personnel folders, including recording and forwarding daily attendance to Student Records.

The position is at Old Dominion Job Corps in Monroe, Virginia. Job Corps is a nationwide residential career training program serving eligible young people ages 16 through 24 by helping them complete high school, prepare for careers, and obtain employment.

Requirements

• Be certified to teach in Virginia or be able to obtain certification through reciprocity.
• Pass a drug screen in compliance with the Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Successfully complete a nationwide criminal background check; employment is contingent on this.

• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.
