SPED Paraprofessional (Teacher's Assistant) AMS Little Rock (2026-2027)
About The Position
Academies of Math and Science (AMS), a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities, is seeking a dedicated, student-centered SPED Paraprofessional / Teacher’s Assistant for its Little Rock campus. The role supports classroom instruction and provides targeted assistance to students, including students with special needs. Working alongside teachers, the paraprofessional supports student learning, classroom activities, and a structured, engaging learning environment. The position helps ensure students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about working with students in a school environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and a passing score on the paraprofessional exam, or an associate’s degree or higher.
- Experience working with children.

- Experience supporting students with special needs.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the lead teacher to support daily classroom instruction.
- Provide small-group and one-on-one support to students.
- Assist with implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Support student engagement and reinforce learning concepts.
- Assist students with special needs in alignment with IEP goals.
- Provide individualized support to help students access the curriculum.
- Support behavior management strategies and promote a positive classroom environment.
- Help maintain a structured, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Support classroom management and student supervision.
- Occasionally assist with classroom coverage when needed.
