About The Position

The SPED LD Resource Teacher at Echo Mountain Intermediate is a 0.5 FTE position responsible for supporting the instructional process for students with special needs. This role involves fostering academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills, supervising students, developing and delivering lesson plans within established curriculum guidelines, and collaborating with colleagues, staff, and administrators to address instructional and classroom issues. The teacher will also communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and instructional programs.

Responsibilities

  • Administers developmental testing programs and subject-specific assessments to evaluate student competency and develop individual learning plans.
  • Administers first aid and provides care for medically fragile children as needed.
  • Advises parents and legal guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and methods for reinforcing classroom goals at home.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and goals in areas such as behavior, motor development, communication, academics, and vocational abilities.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to enhance student outcomes and support school improvement plans.
  • Counsels students on performance, health, problem-solving, and personal issues.
  • Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners and address individual student requirements.
  • Differentiates classroom work to provide instructional materials tailored to individualized learning programs.
  • Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student workers to ensure an effective classroom program.
  • Instructs students to improve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
  • Maintains confidential and non-confidential manual and electronic files and records.
  • Manages student behavior to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitors students in various educational environments to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Orders supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Participates in meetings such as IEPs and staff meetings.
  • Participates in PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
  • Prepares written materials such as attendance records, anecdotal records, and IEPs.
  • Reports health and safety issues to administrators and appropriate agencies.
  • Responds to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Responds to inquiries from various sources to resolve issues and provide information.
  • Serves as a case manager for special education students, managing IEPs.
  • Supports classroom teachers in implementing curriculum and individual student plans.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
