Specimen Processors receive, prepare, and process most samples received by the department. They process requisitions and specimens according to approved procedures, maintain accurate sample and patient data, distribute and store samples, and help ensure laboratory turnaround times and quality standards are met. The position works under close to moderate supervision in a laboratory environment where potential biohazards and hazardous chemicals may be present; required PPE mitigates biohazard exposure. The stated shift is 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Monday through Saturday, with two scheduled days off each week and required weekend coverage. Schedules may change, and overtime may be required based on operational and business needs. The target pay is $17.50 per hour; pay decisions may also consider relevant skills, experience, education, training, and budget.
