About The Position
The Specimen Processing Technician prepares samples received at Valley Lab for laboratory testing. The role includes matching patient information, entering data, and preparing aliquots. The technician helps ensure samples are correctly identified, prepared, documented, and ready for testing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Previous medical laboratory experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and analysis, including managing specimen containers, verifying patient identifiers on samples and test request forms, entering data into the lab information system, and ensuring correct specimen labeling.
- Prepare aliquots and deliver specimens for testing.
- Centrifuge and dispose of specimens.
- Resolve and document problems relating to specimen samples, collection, and processing.
- Request and order supplies as needed to keep materials on hand.
- Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
