About The Position

The Specimen Processing Technician prepares samples received at Valley Lab for laboratory testing. The role ensures samples are properly identified, prepared, documented, and ready for testing, supporting efficient lab operations and quality care. Duties include matching patient information, entering data, and preparing aliquots.

The position is part-time and scheduled Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Pay starts at $16.00 per hour and is calculated based on years of related work experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Previous medical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and analysis, including managing specimen containers, verifying patient identifiers on samples and test request forms, entering data into the laboratory information system, and ensuring correct specimen labeling.
• Prepare aliquots and deliver specimens for testing.
• Centrifuge and dispose of specimens.
• Resolve and document problems relating to specimen samples, collection, and processing.
• Request and order supplies to keep materials on hand.
• Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
