About The Position

The Specimen Collector accurately and professionally collects patient specimens in physician offices and clinical environments. Specimens may include urine, oral fluid, and blood, depending on the assigned clinic location. The role protects specimen integrity by following Ethos protocols and regulatory requirements, and assists with requisitions, patient information verification, specimen preparation for shipment, and electronic data entry as needed. The position requires attention to detail, professionalism in patient-facing settings, and the ability to work independently under remote supervision. The role works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch. There are no direct reports. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Strong interpersonal and patient care skills.
Ability to work independently under remote supervision.
Demonstrated professionalism and disciplined work ethic.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability and willingness to perform multiple types of specimen collections.
Ability to work effectively with clinic staff and Ethos team members.
Reliable transportation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work within established procedures, policies, and compliance guidelines.
High accuracy and attention to detail when completing documentation and handling specimens.
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Comfort using technology to perform work functions in a remote environment, including mobile applications and online training systems.
Ability to sit, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements; handle specimens and materials in a clinical environment; and see, hear, speak, and interact effectively in patient-facing environments.
Ability to work in heated or air-conditioned clinical environments with varying temperatures and exposure to normal bodily fluids and biohazard materials.

Nice To Haves

Prior specimen collection, laboratory, or medical experience is preferred but not required.
Experience in customer service, logistics, or data entry environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collect urine and oral fluid specimens according to Ethos procedures.
Perform anterior nasal swabs for COVID-19 testing when required by clinic accounts.
Collect blood specimens via venipuncture when applicable to assigned locations.
Follow patient identification and specimen collection protocols.
Maintain specimen integrity according to Ethos standard operating procedures and reference materials.
Complete and verify laboratory requisition forms and related documentation.
Label and package specimens for transport to the laboratory.
Track collected specimens by recording required documentation, including initials and collection date and time.
Enter patient information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or EMR when required.
Coordinate with clinic staff to obtain missing patient or order information.
Maintain a safe, secure, and clean working environment and adhere to compliance standards.
Represent Ethos professionally when interacting with patients, providers, and clinic staff.
Participate in required training and continuing education opportunities.
Complete assigned computer-based learning modules and maintain competency documentation.
Partner with Regional and Territory Managers to support clinic workflows and specimen collection protocols.
Perform other duties related to specimen collection and field operations as assigned.
