About The Position

The Specimen Collector II represents Millennium Health and provides care and customer service to patients, clinicians, and the laboratory. The position collects and processes urine and/or oral fluid specimens, serves as an intermediary between clinics and the laboratory, and records patient, physician order, and laboratory information. It may involve driving between multiple facilities, regular travel, and occasional overnight coverage. Female candidates are required for observed collections involving patients identified as male or female. A valid REAL ID or acceptable alternative identification is required before employment begins to comply with federal travel guidelines.

Requirements

Female candidates are required for observed collections of patients identified as male or female.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to navigate a smartphone and computer.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to comply with HIPAA, HiTrust, confidentiality, and compliance policies, procedures, and standards.
Ability to comply with administrative, physical, and technical cybersecurity controls.
Valid REAL ID or an acceptable alternative form of identification is required before starting employment.
Successful completion of the required pre-employment background screening.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of specimen-collector experience or at least 1 year of experience in the medical field directly supporting patients.
At least 2 years of customer-service experience may be considered in place of medical experience.
Medical insurance or billing experience, or familiarity with medications or diagnostic codes.

Responsibilities

Collect patient urine and/or oral fluid (saliva) specimens.
Process and package collections for shipping.
Serve as an intermediary between the practice or clinic and the laboratory.
Record patient information, physician order details, and pertinent laboratory information.
Resolve specimen concerns involving billing or patient information in the ordering portal.
Order and maintain onsite collection-supply inventory.
Observe collections for Millennium Health specimens when applicable.
Travel between multiple facilities as required, including occasional overnight coverage.
