About The Position
Millennium Health is an accredited specialty laboratory that provides medication monitoring and drug testing services to support clinical decision-making for patients with chronic pain, mental illness, and substance use disorders. The Specimen Collector II represents Millennium Health and provides patient care and customer service to patients, clinicians, and the laboratory. The role collects and processes urine and/or oral fluid specimens, acts as an intermediary between clinics and the laboratory, and handles relevant documentation and specimen concerns. Regular travel between facilities is required, with occasional overnight coverage. Female candidates are required for observed collections of gender-identified male and female patients. Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of the listed background screening.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate a smartphone and computer.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel regularly and possess a valid REAL ID or acceptable alternative identification before employment begins.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements: sitting 60% of the time, walking 20%, standing 20%, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of specimen collector experience or at least 1 year of experience in the medical field directly supporting patients.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience may be considered in place of medical experience.
- Medical insurance or billing experience and/or familiarity with medications or diagnostic codes.
Responsibilities
- Collect patient urine and/or oral fluid (saliva) specimens.
- Process and package collections for shipping.
- Serve as an intermediary between the practice or clinic and the laboratory.
- Record patient information, physician order details, and pertinent laboratory information.
- Resolve specimen concerns involving billing or patient information in the ordering portal.
- Order and maintain collection supplies inventory onsite.
- Observe collections for Millennium Health specimens when applicable.
- Travel between multiple facilities as required and provide occasional overnight coverage.
- Adhere to HIPAA, HiTrust, confidentiality, compliance, and cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards.
