About The Position

Amgen is seeking a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative to serve as the primary customer contact for a territory covering Merced, Madera, Atwater, and Ballico, California. The representative provides clinical product knowledge to medical professionals, helps customers navigate the payer environment, implements marketing strategy, and promotes Amgen products as directed by the District Manager. Relocation is not offered. The role focuses on communicating product benefits, achieving territory sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement, managing customer accounts, supporting product access, and developing territory plans. The position level will be selected based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography.

Requirements

Specialty Representative: Bachelor's degree; or associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving for results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.

Nice To Haves

Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
For Specialty Representative, some experience, pre-graduate sales training, and/or a proven record of successful leadership under pressure.
For Senior Specialty Representative, 3 or more years of experience.
Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including related diseases and treatments.
Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
Local market knowledge.
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.

Responsibilities

Provide current and comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate utilization.
Achieve territory sales by delivering branded sales messages, conducting planned programs, scheduling and following up on medical educational programs, and meeting or exceeding sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
Develop and manage customer accounts by tailoring discussions to customer needs, supporting product access, triaging reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze the effectiveness of sales activities and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
Share best practices and collaborate with colleagues to support professional learning and growth.
Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle, build the brand, and keep the company’s patient mission in focus.
