About The Position

Amgen is hiring a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative to serve as the primary customer contact in the assigned territory, providing clinical product knowledge to medical professionals and helping them navigate the payer environment. The representative implements marketing strategy and promotes Amgen products as directed by the District Manager. The territory covers Palm Desert, Indio, La Quinta, and Redlands, California. Relocation is not offered. The position level and title will be selected based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography.

Requirements

For Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree; or associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
For Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
Adaptability and capability in sales planning and organizing, applying business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.

Nice To Haves

Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
For Specialty Representative, some experience, pre-graduate sales training, or a demonstrated record of successful leadership under pressure.
For Senior Specialty Representative, 3 or more years of experience.
Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including related diseases and treatments.
Knowledge of the local market.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.

Responsibilities

Provide current, comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate product utilization.
Achieve territory sales goals through branded sales messages, planned programs, medical education programs, and in-person and virtual customer engagement.
Develop and manage customer accounts by tailoring discussions to customer needs, supporting product access, triaging reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
Provide feedback on marketing strategy, assess sales activity and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
Partner with colleagues to share best practices and support professional learning and growth.
Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle, build the brand, and keep the patient mission in focus.
