About The Position

Ascension Rx Home Delivery is seeking an Advanced Specialty Pharmacy Technician to join their Home Delivery Pharmacy Services department in Austin, Texas. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM CST. The role involves processing and managing specialty pharmacy prescriptions in a mail-order environment, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely medication delivery. Key responsibilities include performing benefits investigations, claims adjudication, and prior authorization support by coordinating with insurance plans, providers, and payers. The technician will also communicate with patients, prescribers, and insurance companies to provide updates and ensure seamless medication access. Accurate documentation of patient interactions, clinical interventions, and workflow activities is essential, along with collaboration with pharmacists and interdisciplinary teams. The role requires maintaining productivity and quality standards, including data entry accuracy, call center performance, claims processing efficiency, prior authorization turnaround times, and error-rate goals, while also assisting with team training and workflow support.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Must possess all state and local qualifications.
  • Licensure required relevant to state in which work is performed.
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • TX Registered Pharmacist Technician Registration required
  • PTCB or NHA certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Retail, Mail Order, and Home Delivery experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced mail order environment with strong time management and accountability skills.

Responsibilities
