The Specialty Pharmacy Manager provides integrated support to patients and physicians by offering a 'hands-on' approach to total quality patient care. This role encompasses the delivery of a full continuum of medication administration, from preparing medications to providing pharmacological information, monitoring patient drug therapies, and offering adherence support. The manager plans and manages the pharmacy in compliance with all legal and regulatory parameters, acting as an efficient and profitable business center in cooperation with other departments. They are an active member of the Quality Management Committee and are responsible for building a high-quality, service-oriented pharmacy team. This includes directing, coordinating, and evaluating pharmacy staff, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and laws, such as interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, succession planning, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. The manager also assures staff training and competency, complies with Human Resources policies, and works with Shields and hospital partner staff to develop and implement ideas for high-quality, cost-effective services, including clinical management programs and adherence initiatives. They implement record systems and processes, oversee inventory procedures, and guarantee compliance with state and federal regulations, accrediting body standards, corporate policies, and performance standards. The role oversees pharmacy patient services, participates directly in pharmacy services as required, and manages compliance to the Company formulary. They are responsible for staff allocation and may direct subordinate managers/supervisors. Knowledge of accreditation standards, management principles, and specialty pharmacy reimbursement is essential. The position requires independent work, leadership in pharmacy practice, and the ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with branch departments. Employee development and performance management skills are crucial, as is the ability to re-engineer operations, develop and implement new strategies, and maintain record-keeping systems. Knowledge of computerized information systems, including financial applications, is also required. The manager will oversee internship/education programs and perform other assigned tasks.
