About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join its team in Houston, Texas. This casual/per-diem position supports laboratory operations by receiving and preparing clinical specimens, entering specimen and patient information, maintaining equipment and supplies, and following procedures to meet safety and quality standards. Hours are as needed on the third shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Basic computer knowledge and data-entry skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turnaround times.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Current or prior Labcorp experience.
• One year or more of experience in a medical or clinical laboratory.
• One year or more of experience in specimen acceptability.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
• Troubleshoot specimen-related issues.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
