About The Position
This position is for a Teacher Assistant III in a Specialized Programs role, specifically supporting a School-Wide program at McWilliams Elementary School. The role is part of the LRE (Least Restrictive Environment) program, focusing on one-on-one support for intermediate grades (3-5). The job operates on a 9-month schedule with 7 hours per day.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university; OR 60 semester hours of college coursework; OR Pass the state-approved competency test (ParaPro Assessment).
- Two (2) years of experience as a Teacher Assistant or in a related field.
- Possess or be eligible to obtain a valid Nevada State Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education (if applicable to the specific program).
- Ability to work effectively with students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and implement lesson plans under the direction of a certified teacher.
- Basic understanding of child development and behavior management techniques.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, assisting students, and supervising activities.
