This position plays a vital role in creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where teens can build friendships, explore new interests, and feel connected to their community. Instructors lead interactive activities, provide supportive mentorship, and model positive behavior to foster a strong sense of belonging and engagement. Successful candidates demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and a commitment to positive youth development. This role works under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Specialist for Teen Programs. Requirements

  • Minimum age 18 years
  • Current certification in Community First Aid and CPR, or the ability to become certified before the program begins (certification must be maintained throughout employment)
  • Ability to assist in activity facilitation and support program logistics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals
  • Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from lead instructors
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a positive attitude
  • Comfortable engaging with teens in a variety of program settings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth
  • Ability and willingness to attend meetings or trainings
  • Ability to provide own transportation as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate teen program activities
  • Manage program setup, cleanup, and material organization
  • Engage participants and encourage positive peer interactions
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment
  • Monitor participant behavior and support conflict resolution as needed
  • Take attendance and assist with basic recordkeeping
  • Communicate professionally with teens, parents, and staff
  • Provide observations feedback to Recreation Specialist of Teen Programs on participant engagement and program flow
  • Perform other duties as assigned
