About The Position

Mason City School District is seeking a Specialized Classroom Aide to work at Mason Intermediate School. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position. The aide will support students under the supervision of an intervention specialist teacher, reinforcing curriculum tasks, implementing interventions, and assisting with self-help skills and toileting needs. Clerical duties are also part of the role.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Must be able to obtain a 1-Year Educational Aide Permit
• Must be able to pass a BCI&I and FBI criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Supports the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping, but not teaching.
• Under supervision of the intervention specialist teacher, works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Performs clerical duties such as running copies, putting up bulletin board, preparing materials, etc.
• Implements teacher-directed interventions to support pupil performance objectives.
• Assists students where necessary in accomplishing self-help skills and gradually decrease support as appropriate.
• Assists in documentation of pupil performance.
• Assist in toileting needs, including diapering.
