About The Position

Mason City School District is seeking a Special Education Aide for Mason Elementary School. This position supports students in their academic and daily living tasks under the guidance of an intervention specialist teacher. The role involves reinforcing learned material, performing clerical duties, implementing interventions, assisting with self-help and toileting needs, and potentially supporting students with medical needs.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Must be able to obtain a 1-Year Educational Aide Permit
• Must be able to pass a BCI&I and FBI criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Supports the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping, but not teaching.
• Under supervision of the intervention specialist teacher, works one on one or with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Performs clerical duties such as running copies, putting up bulletin board, preparing materials, etc.
• Implements teacher-directed interventions to support pupil performance objectives.
• Assists students where necessary in accomplishing self-help skills and gradually decrease support as appropriate.
• Assists in documentation of pupil performance.
• Assist in toileting needs, including diapering.
• Will work with student(s) who has medical needs which could include tube feedings, insulin testing, etc.
• Other Duties as Assigned
