About The Position

Mason City Schools is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students at Mason High School. This role involves assisting students with curriculum tasks, reinforcing learned material, performing clerical duties, and implementing teacher-directed interventions. The aide will also support students with self-help skills, toileting, and potentially medical needs such as tube feedings and insulin testing.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Must be able to pass a BCI&I and FBI criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Supports the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping, but not teaching.
• Under supervision of the intervention specialist teacher, works one on one or with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Performs clerical duties such as running copies, putting up bulletin board, preparing materials, etc.
• Implements teacher-directed interventions to support pupil performance objectives.
• Assists students where necessary in accomplishing self-help skills and gradually decrease support as appropriate.
• Assists in documentation of pupil performance.
• Assist in toileting needs, including diapering.
• Will work with student(s) who has medical needs which could include tube feedings, insulin testing, etc.
• Other Duties as Assigned
