About The Position

Family Service League is seeking a Full-Time Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) Specialist for our Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) Program. The Community Psychiatric Support Treatment (CPST) Specialist provides goal-directed support and solution-focused interventions intended to address challenges associated with a behavioral health need and to achieve identified goals or objectives as set forth in the child’s treatment plan. These services are provided in the youth’s home and community and are intended to assist the child/youth and family/caregiver in achieving stability and functional improvement in daily living, personal recovery and/or resilience, family and interpersonal relationships, and school and community integration.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or a related field required, or a master’s degree in related field with 1 year of related experience required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a behavioral health setting working with children/youth.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and familiarity with Electronic Medical Records is required.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team, is required.
  • Strong clinical, judgement, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Valid, clean New York State Driver’s License required.
  • Own a car that is properly insured, registered, and maintained to drive from worksite to worksite.

Responsibilities

  • The Specialist will conduct assessments in the family home.
  • Prepare Treatment Plans.
  • Follow the established treatment plan goals.
  • Provide Intensive Interventions (counseling), Crisis Avoidance, Intermediate Term Crisis Management, Rehabilitative Psychoeducation, Strengths Based Planning and Rehabilitative Support for children/youth and caregivers.
  • The Specialist will complete all documentation in accordance with DOH and CFTSS standards in an electronic medical record (EHR).
  • Submit weekly documentation regarding visits conducted and adhere to established direct service minimums.
  • Complete assessments, treatment plans, recommendations and concurrent review paperwork, as per program guidelines.
  • The Specialist will collaborate with other CFTSS and care coordination providers to ensure coordinated care and effective treatment and treatment planning.
  • Report all client crises immediately to the Program Director or designee.
  • Attend routine supervision/team meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.
