The Specialist, Technology Analyst will support the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) line within Nationwide. This role will support the AWD application and primarily focus on build efforts for the AWD IT team within Claims & Shared Services (CSS) BSA's. AWD supports a broad range of business areas across Nationwide, including Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Claims, Money Services, Trial Division, Underwriting, and others. The team helps business partners manage and improve workflow processes within their areas. This role offers broad exposure across Nationwide in a shared services organization, partnering with multiple BSA, business, and IT teams. It supports a critical enterprise application with many integrations, providing an opportunity to lead requirements strategically, grow technical and business knowledge, apply AI skills, and help shape the future requirements strategy for a growing team. As a Technology Analyst you will partner with the business to understand business needs and outcomes as well as provide all types of analysis skills related to understanding and meeting business outcomes. They translate business outcomes into solution requirements using techniques such as facilitation and visual management. A Technology Analyst should have broad technology and analysis experience including: facilitation with large stakeholder groups, managing the complete requirements lifecycle, conducting structured analysis using both quantitative and qualitative techniques, analyzing data and application suites, and problem-solving using a collaborative style. Technology Analysts are engaged in work efforts at all scales ranging from minor defect fixes and enhancements to development of new applications. You will also work on all types of solution approaches (e.g. custom development, package implementation) and domains (e.g. all application types, data warehouses, Web, and Cloud).

Requirements

  • Strong technical background with familiarity in Java, web services, Harness, and GitHub to support conversations with development teams and understand system impacts.
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC and project lifecycle, with the ability to support both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Proven requirements leadership skills, including the ability to create context diagrams, define project-level requirements, and translate business needs into technical requirements, user stories, and team-ready task cards.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Jira and R4J to manage requirements, stories, traceability, and day-to-day delivery work.
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly, including AI and automation tools, and apply them to build repeatable, efficient requirements processes for a growing team.
  • Six years of relevant work experience including software delivery or educational experience within a technology domain.
  • Experience with delivering Technology and/or business solutions across industries, platforms and/or lines of business (LOB) within the insurance and/or financial services industries.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing the requirements lifecycle, including facilitation, elicitation, and documenting requirements.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, knowledge of planning.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and set priorities needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technology certifications or designation are not required but encouraged.
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Attend daily meetings and effectively manage multiple projects and priorities throughout the day.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills while helping lead and prioritize the requirements analyst team.
  • Partner with business analysts and business operations to translate business needs into clear, measurable IT requirements and well-defined story cards.
  • Support the team through entry and exit reviews to ensure solutions align with documented requirements.
  • Provide thought leadership on requirements strategy and the use of AI to improve automation, efficiency, and repeatable processes.
  • Serve as a team lead and partner closely with the Tech Lead, Agile Lead, Test Lead, Product Owner, and SEPM while building strong working relationships across diverse communication styles.
  • Partners with the business and other technology professionals to understand business needs and outcomes.
  • Translates multiple business outcomes into solution requirements.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Executes moderate requirements and ensures business alignment using facilitation and visual management techniques.
  • Documents and clarifies requirements work products.
  • Provides mid-level analysis related to understanding and meeting business outcomes.
  • Partners with others to verify, trace and manage functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Possess a good understanding of the applications used to support the business in a specific Business Solution Area(s) (BSA).
  • Conducts quality improvements by providing complex analysis of relevant data.
  • Executes the complete requirements lifecycle from idea through implementation.
  • Leads or partners to facilitate requirement sessions with business leaders and other technology professionals using visual facilitation techniques.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
