The Inventory Control & Shipping/Receiving Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of inventory accuracy, material movement, and the efficient processing of incoming and outgoing shipments. This role ensures materials are properly received, stored, tracked, and shipped in alignment with company standards and operational needs. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or shipping/receiving.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with inventory management or ERP systems.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or scanners (certification preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle items typically required in a warehouse environment (generally up to 50 lbs).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environments.
  • Knowledge of freight carriers, shipping procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with lean principles or continuous improvement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, track, and reconcile inventory levels to ensure accuracy within the inventory management system.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and assist with full physical inventories.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain inventory locations, part numbers, labeling, and documentation.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Operations, and Production teams to support material availability and workflow needs.
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation, and handling of all products and materials.
  • Prepare and process outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy of items, quantities, and documentation.
  • Create shipping labels, packing lists, and required compliance documents.
  • Coordinate carrier pickups and maintain strong working relationships with freight partners.
  • Ensure all shipments meet company standards for quality, packaging, and timeliness.
  • Track and confirm delivery of outgoing shipments as needed.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Document and report any damaged or incorrect deliveries.
  • Accurately enter received goods into the inventory system and communicate receipt to relevant departments.
  • Distribute or store received items in appropriate locations.
  • Ensure receiving area is organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for all inventory and material transactions.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and compliance procedures related to inventory storage and material handling.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support other warehouse or operations tasks as needed.
