About The Position

This role is responsible for facilitating efficient patient flow, scheduling appointments, obtaining and verifying patient information, interviewing patients, explaining policies, entering charges, collecting payments, answering calls, and managing scheduling, registration, and documentation using Cerner or Epic systems. The position requires a strong customer service approach, collaboration, professional communication, attention to detail, and understanding of the role's accountability. Experience with Cerner or Epic is preferred.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to learn, understand, and retain medical coding concepts, including ICD-10 and CPT
• Ability to interpret insurance information accurately
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Facilitate efficient patient flow from point of entry to final destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
• Schedule and coordinate appointments with Radiology and the Pulmonary Function Lab
• Obtain and verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information to ensure accurate records and optimal reimbursement
• Interview patients to collect appropriate medical information
• Explain departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and charges
• Enter and validate charges in appropriate systems and collect required payments
• Answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately
• Utilize Cerner (or Epic) to manage scheduling, registration, and documentation
