About The Position

The Specialist - Illinois Other Violent Crimes will provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered, comprehensive services to survivors of homicide and other violent crimes, as well as to individuals dealing with other trauma and crises, including mental health and responding to Child Welfare Emergency Services calls, in the communities served. This position will participate in the 24-hr crisis on-call rotation (covering Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Counties in Illinois), have reliable transportation, and a flexible schedule to accommodate program and survivor needs. They will work varying hours as assigned and work closely with law enforcement to provide custom notifications, as well as work closely with other crisis response services in the region. This position requires reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance. These responsibilities are carried out under the direction of the Supervisor - Other Violent Crimes. This position requires a flexible schedule that may include working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and vehicle with appropriate auto insurance required.
  • Must be able to pass the motor vehicle record background check.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate program and survivor needs.
  • Ability to work varying hours as assigned.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in the field of substance abuse or mental health; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities
