Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree – human services or related field.
  • Four years related experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree.
  • Over two years, up to and including four years of experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate, coordinate groups of individuals for engaging group activities.
  • Experience providing one-on-one support to students facing academic challenges, behavioral issues, or personal struggles.
  • Basic understanding and competency regarding Hawaiian host culture and various cultures represented in Hawaii.
  • Respond to crises, such as emotional distress, bullying, or emergencies, and provide appropriate support and referrals to ensure students' safety and well-being.
  • Collaborating with parents, teachers, and community providers, as well as good writing skills for documentation.
  • Valid Hawaii driver's license and a clear driver's abstract.
  • Willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • Use of agency vehicle to transport participants, as needed.
  • Subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
  • Successful completion of CPR, CPI and/or van driving training as such training is necessary to ensure ability/continued ability to perform essential functions of this job.
  • Successful completion of CPI classes OR other Behavioral Management certification as may be contract-mandated.
  • Successful completion of First Aid classes.

Responsibilities

  • Operations of after school activities, planning, coordinating, leading and running of sessions.
  • Facilitation of games, activities, and planning the schedules.
  • Coordinate and plan field trips and excursions.
  • Maintain safety and procedural guidelines for crisis intervention.
  • Planning and leading of family engagement, as well as the transportation of youth, informal counseling and individual and group skill-building for youth.
  • Conducts screenings, and assessments of participant’s baseline skills- works with youth and family to create an individualized service plan.
  • Coordinates with community resources to provide/facilitate cultural activities and programming to youth and their families.
  • Provides information and referrals to families for additional services, as needed.
  • Conducts outreach island-wide to identify potential partnerships and program participants.
  • Works cooperatively as a member of an inert-disciplinary team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
