About The Position

Supports leadership in the design and delivery of systemic professional learning across the organization, with a specific focus on high expectations for students and staff. Supports professional development and training that enhances the academic achievement and culture and climate for the diverse student population and the development of a diverse workforce. Provides professional development to Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) stakeholders on a broad range of topics related to high expectations teaching, opportunity and belonging, and the development of equitable, universally designed work and learning environments. Supports and coaches’ system and school leaders to build capacity in communication, customer service, relationship building, problem solving and mutual accountability.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in education or a field directly related to the assignment.
  • Five years’ experience in leading programs in a public K-12 education setting.
  • Knowledge of current research-based instructional practices, organizational development, and meeting the needs of all students.
  • Demonstration of strong human relations skills.
  • Demonstration of effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstration of computer/educational technology skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Certificate or License appropriate to the area of assignment is preferred.
  • Administrator I certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with all Divisions, Departments and Offices by designing, delivering, and evaluating high quality professional development and training in support of our system-wide goal of retaining high quality teachers, leaders and staff.
  • Provides support to schools and offices on the development of programs and initiatives that support high expectations teaching and access to educational rigor for all students.
  • Provides support to offices, departments, and divisions in developing and implementing progress plans that address the systemic focus on operational and educational excellence.
  • Initiates and ensures collaboration across divisions to support schools in the development of initiatives that promote the accelerated achievement of underserved students.
  • Supports the development of a leadership succession pipeline that ensures staff has competence in fostering the achievement of all learners.
  • Assists schools and offices in responding to data that support the college and career readiness of all BCPS students.
  • Collaborates with BCPS leadership to start dialogues, develop programs, facilitate professional development, and develop creative ways to engage staff in removing barriers to student success.
  • Supports equity liaisons in working with school leadership teams to create equitable and inclusive educational and workplace environments for all students and staff.
  • Serves on a variety of workgroups, committees, and councils with BCPS and with outside agencies and institutions.
  • Supports the development and delivery of professional learning for teacher leaders.
  • Supports the development and delivery of systemwide communication related to the PAR program.
  • Supports the Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) program including but not limited to supporting the observation of culture and climate for coaching, management of teacher caseloads, planning and implementation of professional learning for consulting teachers, and PAR panel reporting and logistics.
  • Supports the development of systemwide professional development content including the training of school-based facilitators and coordination with offices in the Division of Curriculum and Instruction and the Department of Schools.
  • Assists with New Educator Orientation and New Educator Induction programs.
  • Supports teachers, teacher leaders, and administrators with the implementation of the BCPS Teacher Professional Growth System for evaluation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
