About The Position

This role involves providing training and support to Bookkeepers within the Business Services Division. The Specialist will ensure adherence to District policies and procedures for all financial transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and develop and implement training programs to address problem areas and new concepts. The position also serves as a mentor for new Bookkeepers and provides support to all customers of the Business Services Division, collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years of financial record keeping, accounting, or related work experience.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and management skills.
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field.
  • Six (6) years of financial record keeping, accounting, or related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Train and support Bookkeepers in the application of District policies and procedures in all financial transactions.
  • Train and support Bookkeepers to maintain a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the school/department.
  • Prepare and implement training for all Bookkeepers to address identified problem areas and new concepts.
  • Serve as a mentor for new Bookkeepers.
  • Provide support to all customers of the Business Services Division.
  • Collaborate with other Business Services departments.
  • Assist Business Services staff as necessary to ensure smooth operation of daily functions.
