About The Position

Air Canada Vacations is seeking an enthusiastic Human Resources and Benefits Specialist with well-rounded HR experience. This role requires an ability to manage learning of multiple processes and policies, and comfort with autonomy and taking direction. The Specialist will be hands-on and involved in the day-to-day requirements of the HR and Benefits department. The company is in the business of making dreams travel and offers vacation packages, tours, cruises, and more. They are looking for innovative and dedicated professionals who have a passion for travel.

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources, labour relations or relevant field, combined with a minimum of 5 years of experience in HR and/or Benefits.
  • Knowledge of Canadian provincial and federal legislation.
  • Experience in managing employee benefits.
  • Ability to analyze data, understand trends and develop recommendations for action.
  • Ability to influence, coach and consult with all levels of the organization in a positive and effective manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business practices and the link between HR strategy and business strategy.
  • Bilingual in French and English.

  • Knowledge of Dayforce is a definite plus.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, recommending, improving, and implementing plans and employee benefit policies, and overseeing the administration of existing plans.
  • Operating as a subject matter expert in the areas of benefits, pension, employee share purchase plan, and group health insurance.
  • Monitoring and responding to federal and provincial benefits related to compliance requirements, monitoring vendor performance, and calculating payments due to benefit vendors.
  • Acting as a resource person to answer general inquiries from employees across multiple locations in Canada.
  • Administering group insurance regulations and interpreting clauses in the group insurance policy.
  • Experience with administering WSIB and CNESST claims.
  • Expertise in defined contributions and defined benefits pension plans.
  • Managing all leaves (parental, short term and long-term leaves) for employees across Canada.
  • Leading the accommodation process, ensuring thorough documentation, timely follow-up, and effective feedback.
  • Seeking to improve business processes, practices, and policies by benchmarking against industry standards and making recommended changes for improvement to implement best practices for continued expansion and growth.
  • Participating in the Health and Safety committee and first aid training.
  • Partnering with the HR team to benchmark and continuously improve HR strategies, processes, programs, policies, and tools.
  • Analyzing trends and metrics, anticipating people-related needs, and delivering value-added service to managers and employees.
  • Delivering solutions that drive company and individual performance to achieve the company’s initiatives in a way that is reflective of the unique culture and values.
  • Working on critical projects that impact employee experience, engagement, and retention.
