Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of basic not-for-profit accounting.
  • Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations for not-for-profit financial record keeping and reporting especially regarding grant and other donor requirements.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in business and accounting computer systems.
  • Must possess high initiative and be detail oriented.
  • Organized and able to work with little supervision.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous administrative, clerical, customer service, or accounting support experience preferred
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office equipment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Receive, open, sort, and distribute incoming mail and deliveries
  • Identify and route invoices, payments, checks, correspondence, and other financial documents to the appropriate team members.
  • Prepare and process daily bank deposits in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of deposits and related documentation.
  • Assist with the handling and secure storage of checks, cash receipts, and confidential financial information.
  • Organize, scan, file, and maintain accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, or other accounting functions as assigned.
  • Provide general administrative support to the accounting team, including data entry and document preparation.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and employee information.
