About The Position

The Special Teams Coordinator/Tight End’s Coach will lead the areas as assigned, manage and direct all phases of the day-to-day positional operation of the University’s football program, as assigned by the Head Football Coach, including but not limited to: assisting with effective coaching, skill training, and student-athlete development; successful recruitment, retention, and graduation of high-performing student-athletes. Assisting as assigned or directed with the preparation, organization, design, and implementation of effective practice plans, off-season programs, video review, and recruiting systems. Assisting as assigned or directed with operational, equipment, and travel planning execution. Assisting as assigned or directed with community engagement, fundraising, and effective public relations; adherence to NCAA, SWAC, and B-CU rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least four years of coaching experience; or a combination of collegiate and/or professional experience with expertise and demonstrated success in the technical and teaching aspects of coaching football.
  • Proven ability to organize and develop a comprehensive recruiting plan with proficiency in the successful retention and graduation of high-performing football collegiate student-athletes.
  • High-level knowledge and application of SWAC and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Basic personal computer operation and willingness to adapt to a changing technology environment, i.e., updates, security, and new versions.
  • Ability to use multiple internet browsers, with competence in email and document management.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Keen ability to coordinate and maintain regular communication with the head football coach and/or designee, assistant football coaches, other athletics staff, including the Director of Athletics or designee, Compliance, Sports Medicine, Business Office, Student Athlete Services, Marketing and Media Relations, and Equipment. Video, Strength & Conditioning, and Facilities Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head football coach in supporting the philosophy, goals, mission, and championship culture of the University and its Intercollegiate Athletics programs
  • Assist the head football coach with responsibility for the quality of the football student-athletes' academic, social, and athletic experience
  • Assist the head football coach with responsibility for game preparation, strategy, execution, and practice/meeting scheduling
  • Significantly demonstrate collegiate and ideally professional experience as a player and/or coach
  • Reflect a national profile with significant recruiting experiences
  • Have great leadership qualities with football programs and publicly to help advance the University’s football program
  • Assist the head football coach in ensuring a culture of compliance by adherence to BCU, SWAC, and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Be an excellent brand ambassador of the University
  • Be an ardent communicator who cultivates positive internal and external interactions
  • With the head coach’s direction, prepare to meet with alumni of the program and university; prospective donors, media, enhance public relations and community efforts
  • Assist the head football coach with host camps, clinics, and recruitment events
