About The Position

The Special Projects - Retrofit Foreman leads the crew in planning, verifying, and installing equipment and materials efficiently for projects involving equipment retrofit or replacement in the Special Projects Division. Retrofit projects may require expedited completion, and the foreman coordinates manpower and helps ensure deadlines are met within budget. The role works directly with Account Directors to verify equipment and subcontractor needs, creates and issues purchase orders as needed, requests additional manpower, and oversees dispatch and time cards for the retrofit team. The foreman also works with the Construction Department on start-up and air balancing of completed jobs. The position includes receiving sold unit-replacement projects from Service, Construction, and Sales; conducting pre-site inspections; reviewing and verifying equipment submittals and orders; coordinating material orders and manpower; and ensuring safety, project efficiency, documentation, and closeout procedures. The foreman manages personnel in the Special Projects Department and participates in corrective action and termination matters. Performance is evaluated by customer feedback, accuracy and consistency of documentation and communication, completion to quality and budget standards, and team feedback.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in HVAC service and installation.
EPA 608 Universal Certification.
Strong knowledge of air conditioning and heating system operating principles and HVAC safety practices.
Ability to install and replace various HVAC equipment.
Ability to field-verify and fabricate transition ductwork.
Thorough understanding of HVAC equipment and its major components.
Ability to detail transition ductwork for shop fabrication submission.
General understanding of various control systems.
Ability to perform assigned tasks independently.
Strong knowledge of equipment, tools, and methods used to repair and replace air conditioning and heating equipment in commercial and residential buildings.
Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
Ability to read and understand technical instructions and follow blueprints.
Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Communicate with Account Directors when projects are completed.
Ensure proper documentation and project closeout procedures are followed.
Manage personnel working within the Special Projects Department.
Be present for corrective action and termination of employees within the Special Projects Department.
Place job material orders using purchase orders provided by the Construction Department.
Coordinate and schedule project manpower, with assistance from the Construction Department when needed.
Ensure efficiency on all Special Projects retrofit projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
