Fire Sprinkler Install/Retrofit Foreman
About The Position
Fire sprinkler foremen are responsible for the complete installation of fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. They manage installation projects assigned by the Fire Sprinkler Manager and oversee the technicians, installation fitters, and assistants working at the site, ensuring installation work is completed properly. The role involves interpreting project drawings, coordinating and training site personnel, installing and testing fire suppression equipment, following designed plans while communicating necessary changes, managing delivered materials and minor on-site fabrication, documenting progress, and maintaining required paperwork, vehicles, and tools. Foremen must follow company conduct, confidentiality, and safety policies and perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of pipefitting, plumbing regulations, and fire protection codes.
- Valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record to be approved to drive a company vehicle.
- Knowledge of fire safety principles and practices.
- Knowledge of codes and regulations related to the work.
- Ability to review official documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Ability to act in a lead capacity.
- Ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs.
- Ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools and ladders, and medium equipment and machinery.
- Ability to meet the described physical requirements, including standing, walking, handling tools, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and occasionally lifting or moving heavy objects.
Responsibilities
- Interpret project drawings and installation requirements accurately and completely.
- Delegate tasks to fitters, mechanics, and assistants to meet project deadlines, scheduling requirements, and goals established by the Fire Sprinkler Manager.
- Install and test fire suppression equipment in new or retrofit construction projects.
- Follow designed plans and communicate design changes needed to meet actual site requirements.
- Be responsible for materials delivered to the site and perform minor fabrication on site.
- Update daily installation progress notes on job contract drawings.
- Bring necessary changes to an order to the manager’s attention.
- Instruct and train helpers, apprentices, and other personnel in basic processes for service, repair, and system installation.
- Complete and maintain paperwork accurately.
- Maintain vehicles and tools according to company policy.
- Use hand tools and electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic power tools.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
