About The Position

This specific position for Natural Resources Department supports the planning, development, and implementation of trail projects by contributing technical knowledge of trail design, maintenance, and best practices. The role assists with parks and recreation planning efforts, coordinates project activities, and helps ensure alignment with community needs and organizational goals. Responsibilities include organizing and participating in community engagement meetings, effectively communicating with community leaders, stakeholders, and partner organizations, and providing informed guidance on trail systems, accessibility, and long‑range recreation planning. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills are essential to successfully support both trail development initiatives and broader parks and recreation projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in specified field of study as provided by the department; or six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• An additional five (5) years progressively responsible experience in specified area as provided by the department.
• Knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
• Must have a thorough understanding of complex systems utilized for successful government operations and the ability to communicate strategic plans for implementation.
• Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
