About The Position

The Special Projects Editor will oversee all content related to events, including special publications, digital packages, and multimedia presentations. This role involves planning and conceiving editorial content for events, assigning stories, photos, graphics, and data packages, and ensuring all content meets high editorial standards. The editor will also develop and manage a stable of freelancers, assist other editors with daily coverage, assign weekly Journal Profiles with a focus on diversity, and meet all deadlines.

Requirements

  • Exceptional editor, proofreader, reporter and writer with knowledge of AP style
  • Able to guide, contribute to and lead large-scale editorial projects
  • Multitasker
  • Able to use social media as a newsgathering and dissemination tool
  • At least five years of editing and project management
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all content related to events, including special publications, digital packages and multimedia presentations
  • Plan and conceive editorial event content - print section, online content, videos, scripts and overall presentation
  • Assign all content for editorial and event special projects, including stories, photos, graphics and data packages
  • Work with other departments to ensure event schedules, nomination processes, selection of honorees and day-of content for the event meet the high editorial standards of the Business Journal.
  • Develop and manage stable of freelancers to create top-notch content
  • Assist other editors in managing the day-to-day coverage as needed
  • Assign all weekly Journal Profiles, ensuring we are interviewing high-level people with a focus on gender, racial, geographic and industry diversity
