This role involves managing and coordinating the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The Special Projects Manager oversees a team of project professionals, providing guidance and support to meet project goals. Key responsibilities include supervising the creation, review, and maintenance of documentation such as design review, commissioning, and problem-solving papers, and managing the implementation and oversight of quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards. The manager also supervises regular site walks, oversees startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects, addresses risks, and acts as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers. This includes supervising the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance and alignment with approved design plans, and supervising the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems.
