About The Position

Block by Block CA is looking for people who like working outdoors, staying active, and feeling a sense of accomplishment, while improving some of your city's most important public spaces. If you love interacting with people in your current environment, but are looking for more variety in your assignments, this might be the job for you! Special Project Ambassadors are often like the local caretakers in the public spaces they serve because they professionally represent not only Block by Block CA, but their customers, and they realize they're highly visible and operate in one of our cities' most important fish bowls. They help the public see that the space they serve is well cared for, leading to more return visits and sharing positive experiences. They take ownership of every person's experience in the public space, whether it's a visitor, resident, worker or member of the street population. As a Special Projects Ambassador, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will likely include circulating through assigned work zones in the work area, completing manual and/or mechanical cleaning of needed items or spaces. They will operate large hot water power units to clean sidewalks or plazas, street furniture, or any other areas in need of deep cleaning. They will also operate large litter vacuums to sweep up litter, debris, or leaves. Staying Visible and Being Really Friendly is key, as the job is to not only clean, but to be a visible presence and have friendly interactions with the people in the public space served. Ongoing Reporting is also a responsibility, which involves being comfortable using a simple smartphone app to report normal activities and maintenance reports.

Requirements

Pressure washing background REQUIRED
Valid CA Driver's License PREFERRED
Must have the physical capacity to stand and move continuously during an eight-hour shift, with normal breaks (two fifteen-minute breaks and one thirty-minute meal break).
Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.
Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports
You're handy with basic tools and understand how things work
You like working outdoors!
