About The Position

The Special Projects, Manager leads special capital improvement and remediation projects across MN8 Energy's renewable energy asset portfolio. This role partners closely with the Capital Improvements and Asset Management teams to define project scope and priorities, and owns project execution end-to-end including sourcing, contracting, and managing subcontractors to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget, and in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. MN8 Energy is the internal customer for this role's project work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field trade certification; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of project management or field service experience, ideally within renewable energy, construction, utilities, or infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and vendors, including scope negotiation and performance management.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and risk.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers.
  • Proficiency with project management tools/software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Procore, or similar).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to project sites.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification preferred, not required.
  • Working knowledge of solar or other renewable energy asset technical components is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and manage special projects (e.g., equipment remediation programs, capital improvement initiatives) across MN8 Energy's utility-scale and C&I renewable energy assets, from scoping through close-out.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for MN8 Energy (the customer), the Capital Improvements team, and the Asset Management team on the specific projects assigned to this role, aligning on scope, priorities, and timelines for those projects.
  • Source, qualify, and manage subcontractors and vendors for assigned projects, including negotiating scopes of work, monitoring performance and quality, and enforcing contractual compliance.
  • Receive prioritized remediation and improvement scopes from the Performance team — developed using Asset Management and Capital Improvements guidance and feedback — and translate them into actionable project execution plans.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and field personnel to develop project scopes, technical specifications, and materials lists.
  • Partner with procurement to source and order materials, and track deliveries to support on-time project execution.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and risk logs; proactively identify and resolve issues that could affect scope, cost, or schedule.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory, and safety requirements throughout project execution.
  • Prepare regular project status reports and communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to standardize project management practices and improve operational efficiency across special projects.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to oversee subcontractor work quality and project progress.
