About The Position
Block by Block is hiring a Special Projects Ambassador to help make public spaces cleaner, safer, friendlier, and more vibrant. The role suits people who enjoy outdoor work, staying active, interacting with the public, and having variety in their assignments. Ambassadors represent Block by Block and its customers, take ownership of visitors’ experiences, and help public spaces feel well cared for. All work is performed outdoors, and inclement-weather gear is provided. The position pays $20.00 per hour. A valid Texas driver’s license is required; a CDL is preferred.
Requirements
- Valid Texas driver’s license required.
- Able to stand and move continuously during an eight-hour shift, with normal breaks.
- Able to work outdoors in all conditions; inclement-weather gear is provided.
- Able to speak, read, and write English to create basic reports.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Comfort with basic tools and an understanding of how things work.
Nice To Haves
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
- Enjoyment of outdoor, active work and interacting with the public.
Responsibilities
- Circulate through assigned work zones and clean items or spaces manually or mechanically.
- Operate a large hot-water power unit to deep-clean sidewalks, plazas, street furniture, and other areas.
- Operate large litter vacuums to remove litter, debris, and leaves.
- Maintain a visible presence and interact in a friendly manner with people in the public space.
- Use a smartphone app to report routine activities and maintenance needs.
- Represent Block by Block and its customers professionally and help provide a positive experience for visitors, residents, workers, and members of the street population.
