This role involves working in DOH-Pinellas Special Needs Shelters, providing essential care to special needs patients of all ages during emergency deployments. Shifts are 12 hours, and the work environment is within middle school campuses utilized as hurricane shelters.
Requirements
- Active Level 2 background in the AHCA Clearinghouse is accepted.
- Must have an active medical license verified in the DOH MQA Search Portal.
- Candidates will be screened prior to 1st deployment and expected to report when called.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts.
- Must be able to stay on-site during off-hours (if not, arrangements will not be paid).

- Scrubs are preferred for clothing.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with medication administration.
- Provide assistance with the use of oxygen and other durable medical equipment.
- Provide assistance with toileting and personal hygiene.
- Provide assistance with wound care.
- Provide assistance with ambulation.
- Provide assistance with feeding and nutrition.
- Monitor overall client health.
- Document client health status and assistance provided.
- Seek assistance from a Licensed Client Care staff member if unable to perform a required task.
- Keep clients aware of time and notify Licensed Client Care staff if assistance is needed with self-administered medication treatments.
- Use universal precautions: wash hands effectively and often, and use personal protective equipment if necessary.
- Maintain the safety and security of the shelter.
Benefits
- Pay rate: $28.00 per hour
- Meals and water are provided by the school.
- PPE is provided by DOH.
