About The Position

Certerra is seeking experienced structural Special Inspectors with multiple certifications to support expanding projects in the Northern Washington region. The role involves inspection and testing on federal, commercial, and infrastructure new-construction projects in the Bellingham region. Inspectors help ensure safe, code-compliant, high-quality project delivery by applying sound technical judgment, interpreting construction documents, and communicating with project managers, contractors, and clients. Compensation within the stated range is determined by experience and certifications.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Able to meet background and identity verification requirements for federal site access.
Must have or be able to acquire a passport within 90 days.
Must be a U.S. citizen if working on military bases.
ICC Special Inspector certification in one or more listed categories: Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Spray Applied Fireproofing, Proprietary Anchors, Structural Steel and Bolting, Structural Welding, or Prestressed Concrete; AWS CWI is also listed.
Working knowledge of current IBC, ACI, AICS, and ASTM codes.

Nice To Haves

Current WABO registration.
Familiarity with USACE and/or NAVFAC specifications.
Additional certifications beyond one listed category.

Responsibilities

Perform special inspections in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
Read and interpret construction documents, RFIs, and structural details.
Conduct required field testing and inspections within the scope of applicable certifications.
Prepare accurate and detailed daily reports.
Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, clients, and internal staff.
Maintain relevant certifications and pursue new credentials aligned with career goals.
Maintain safe work practices.
Participate in continuing education and professional development.
