About The Position

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates (HCEA) is seeking an ICC Special Inspector/Experienced Construction Materials Field Technician for their South Plainfield, NJ office. This role involves field observation, testing, sampling, and review of various construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, fireproofing, and structural steel placement. HCEA is a multi-disciplined ENR Top 500 engineering firm with 20 offices in the mid-Atlantic, operating as a 100% employee-owned ESOP for the past 35 years. Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Applicable ICC Certifications in at least one of the following categories: Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Spray-Applied Fireproofing, etc.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
• Must meet additional pre-employment criteria
• Reliable vehicle suitable for use on construction sites
• Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds (soil and concrete samples, nuclear gauges, etc.)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans/specifications
• Basic math and computer skills

Nice To Haves

• New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) licenses preferred
